This newspaper was created as the centrepiece of the promotional drive for two months of sustainability and volunteering campaigns and events at the Students’ Union. I designed, edited and sub-edited it as part of my role as Design Team Leader.
The aim of the newspaper was to highlight and concisely summarise all relevant events and information whilst promoting the benefits of getting involved with volunteering and environmental issues – to the planet and to the individual. This ethos was an integral part of this project; printing a newspaper is much more eco-friendly than a series of flyers or a magazine. The format also encouraged more students to actively take and request copies than others might have.
Looking forward, other departments are now keen to replicate the success of this newspaper for their own campaigns.
