» SUSU Elections

As part of the Students’ Union Elections, I produced and edited several series of videos, including candidate announcements, as above.

This was part of a schedule of videos that continued with introductions to the candidates for each of the seven positions. Extracts from the videos for three positions have been combined below.

For both the announcement and the introduction, I created a template in Adobe After Effects which would allow the footage of each candidate, their name and their manifesto points to be dropped in without any need for adjustment. This was to ensure the videos could be released as soon as the embargo on the identities of candidates was lifted, which was only a few hours after recording was due to take place.

The template was designed to match with the wider Elections identity used by SUSU and the videos were used as part of their campaign to increase engagement.

This project was completed in Adobe After Effects.

The centrepiece of SUSUtv’s Elections coverage is a live stream announcing the results. I produced and directed the two-hour 2017 results show, which involved coordinating three studios, a crew of over 20, segment and VT producers and publicity.

I also developed the software used to stream the show with Head of Technical Robert Winn which, as well as basic functionality such as camera switching, sound mixing and green screen keying, offered the option of dynamic overlays (clocks, lower thirds, graphs etc.). This is one of the elements of the stream I am most proud of.

This show remains one of the most popular videos on SUSUtv’s Facebook page.

VTs I produced and edited:

I also created a collection of titles, graphics, stings and idents (examples included below). These templates and assets have gone on to be reused across successive years of coverage and shows.
